Now, the 3.5mm jack is going to be abandoned to allow more space for more tech inside the upcoming OnePlus 6T. OnePlus’ co-founder, Carl Pei has confirmed the Type-C Bullet headphones.
Since the launch of OnePlus 3 every year OnePlus launches two new smartphone every year,the later release being mainly a spec bump or cosmetic changes. this year OnePlus 6t will be launched, and in all those rumors carl pei confirmed that headphone jack will be removed.
Like most smartphone manufacturers, OnePlus has also decided to kill the beloved 3.5mm headphone jack from its upcoming smartphone, which is expected to be called the OnePlus 6T. Carl Pei confirmed the news in an interview and explained that “it’s about timing” and for delivering the best smartphone experience. OnePlus has also revealed that it will be launching new Bullets wired headphones alongside the OnePlus 6T. The new Bullets from OnePlus will feature a USB Type-C connector.
In March this year OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei asked his followers if they like headphone jacks. Eight out of nine replies said yes and the OnePlus launched OnePlus 6 with the 3.5mm port. “On a survey it is found 59% of our community already owned wireless headphones earlier this year – and that was before we launched our Bullets Wireless headphones,” said Carl Pei. According to a survey conducted by OnePlus, in 2017, 80% of users used the headphone jack regularly, while, a poll in 2018 saw 59% of users switching to wireless headsets. Pei added that the percentage of users would have been much lower if the headphone jack had been removed two years ago.
However, Pei also says that removing the port has freed up additional space inside their upcoming phone, which will enable the company to equip it with more “new technology.” OnePlus has not revealed what the new technology will be but earlier the OnePlus confirmed the presence of an in-display fingerprint sensor as the likes of Vivo and Oppo. Pei has also hinted on improving the battery life of the upcoming OnePlus 6T.
The company will bundle a Type-C to 3.5mm audio adapter in the box with its next device but is not expected to ship a headphone with it as usual. The upcoming Bullets headphones are said to have better audio quality over its predecessor. On Twitter OnePlus says, “The shape and material used to craft the earphone housing plays a big role in how it will sound.
