Customizing Active Edge Sense on Google Pixel 3

Both Google Pixel 3 and Google Pixel 3 XL comes with Active Edge Sense feature and if you squeeze the sides of either of them, you can easily bring up Google Assistant. However, aside from a few other basic functions, that’s about all you can do.

With the Edge Sense Plus app though, you can do so much more than just opening Google Assistant, and now it’s available for the Pixel 3 line.

Active Edge
Active Edge Sense Plus

Edge Sense Plus gives you the freedom to control what one squeeze, a long squeeze, or a double squeeze does with practically limitless options. The app is inspired by HTC’s Edge Sense — the inspiration behind Google’s Active Edge – which gives you a lot of control out of the box.

Unfortunately, Google keeps Active Edge much more locked down than HTC, so you’re going to have to jump through some hoops to get Edge Sense Plus to install. Active Edge from XDA. The app allows you to customize the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL active edge feature. Active Edge was influenced by HTC Edge Sense feature, but HTC lets you do all sorts of customization options with their feature. Google continues to lock this down on the Pixel 3, only allowing you to activate Google Assistant or to silence alarms, notifications, and incoming phone calls.

This is where Edge Sense Plus comes. However, for it to work on the Pixel 3 you need to unlock the bootloader and gain root access with Magisk. If your phone is rooted then you can have this app and then there are a lot of options to choose from including setting triggers for regular squeezes, a long squeeze, and a double squeeze. All these customization is only available with Google pixel 2 Google Pixel 3 and HTC phone having edge sense.
